Use a Ring Light For Even Light All Over<\/h3>\n

The most basic way to light up a face is to light it up as evenly as possible.<\/p>\n

Try adding a DSLR ring light<\/a> that fits around your DSLR\u2019s lens (or detaches for handheld control). Or, use a mini ring light<\/a> with your phone camera!<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll find that your friends\u2019 faces look even better in even light.<\/p>\n

Bounce Light to Get Rid of Shadows<\/h3>\n

Reflectors are particularly useful when you\u2019re shooting outside or near a window to take advantage of natural light.<\/p>\n

Since it\u2019s a little hard to move the sun to get it shining at just the right angle, it can cause some harsh shadows.<\/p>\n

So, line up your reflector<\/a> (or a white foam board in a pinch) on the opposite side of your subject as your main light source to bounce light up at them and soften unwanted shadows.
